Apasen Opportunity Zone Hosts Joyful Eid Celebration at Brad...

The spirit of Eid was alive and thriving at the Brady Arts Centre as the Apasen Opportunity Zone hosted a vibrant and heartfelt Eid Party for learners and staff alike. The event brought together learners from various LBTH hubs, along with senior managers, Opportunity Zone hub leads, dedicated project workers, and carers, in a wonderful celebration of culture, community, and togetherness.

The hall was adorned with colourful decorations that instantly lifted spirits and set the tone for an afternoon filled with joy and connection. Guests were welcomed with a festive spread of delicious food, creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere where everyone could come together and enjoy the special occasion.

A highlight of the event was the presence of Apasen’s Chief Executive, Mahmud Hasan MBE, who gave a heartfelt speech, sharing his pride in the achievements of the Opportunity Zone learners and staff. Mr. Hasan also took time to distribute beautifully wrapped Eid gifts to the learners, bringing smiles and a sense of recognition to all who received them.

Adding to the celebrations was a mesmerising cultural performance by learners, led by the acclaimed musician Gouri Chowdhury. The performance showcased the incredible talents and confidence of the learners, and was met with enthusiastic applause and admiration from all in attendance.

This Eid Party was not only a joyful gathering but also a celebration of diversity, creativity, and the inclusive values that Apasen continues to champion through its work. The event was a true reflection of the Opportunity Zone’s impact—empowering learners, building community, and creating spaces where everyone can thrive.

Carers’ Drop-In Session: A Platform for Support and En...

On 02 April, Apasen hosted a successful Carers’ Drop-In Session, providing an invaluable opportunity for carers to share their experiences, concerns, and suggestions in an open and supportive environment. The event, which took place as part of Apasen’s ongoing commitment to carer support, was attended by several key members of the organisation, including Chief Executive Mahmud Hasan MBE.

One of the highlights of the session was the Carers’ Tea Session with Managers, where carers had the opportunity to directly engage with Apasen’s Home and Community Services (HCS) leadership team. Mahmud Hasan MBE took the time to listen attentively to carers’ issues, ensuring that their voices were heard at the highest level. The interactive discussion allowed carers to share their perspectives on challenges they face and how Apasen can continue to support them effectively.

Mahmud Hasan MBE reflected on Apasen’s journey, stating, “For over 40 years, Apasen has remained persistent in its mission to serve and uplift the community. Our journey has been one of resilience, growth, and firm dedication. No negativity will deter us from our quest to achieve our aims and objectives. We will continue to provide essential support, empower carers, and ensure that our services reach those who need them the most.”

Key HCS members of staff present at the event included Munira Parvin, Project Manager for Home & Community Services, Rema Ali, Trainee Project Manager for Home & Community Services (LBTH), Mark Foulds, Chief Operating Officer, and Ather Khan, HR Manager. Their active participation in the session demonstrated Apasen’s dedication to enhancing services and welfare support for carers.

The Drop-In Session will continue until April 3rd, offering more carers the chance to engage with the organisation and access the support they need. Apasen remains devoted in its mission to empower and uplift carers, recognising the crucial role they play in the community.
