Apasen learners had an exciting opportunity on Monday, when the ICC Cricket World Cup trophy paid them a visit. Service users from different boroughs and projects gathered at Apasen head office to get close to the trophy. This is the trophy won by England cricket team in a memorable nail-biting final back in July 2019.
Bangladesh’s ex-cricketer and CEO of Capital Kids Cricket (CKC) Shahidul Alam Ratan visited Apasen on 14 February and brought the trophy with him for Apasen learners to see. The visit was part of a wider tour across East London which CKC has organised for the trophy in order to raise awareness of their “Bowl out racism” campaign.
The Chief Executive of Apasen Mahmud Hasan MBE said:
“It is a real privilege to have the trophy come to our learners. At Apasen, we are happy to extend our hands to the ‘Bowl Out Racism’ campaign. We all should promote equality and respect both on and off the field of play. The ‘spirit of cricket’ can play an important role to educate children and young people about social cohesion and harmony.”
