Carers Respite

We provide support to families who need a break from their constant caring role. The aim is to provide carers “Short-Break” that enables them to have respite from their non-stop caring responsibilities of their disabled family members.

Summer Day Trips
Apasen organises 4 day trips each year during the summer school holiday period for its service users, parents/carers and for their family. The aim is to provide an excellent leisure opportunity for our service users at various different out of town locations like sea-side towns, Theme Parks, Fruit Farms, Animal and Adventure Parks etc.

Residential Respite:
Our annual Residential Respite provides a break for carers away from their homes in a relaxing and comfortable environment for one week. It provides a change in their surroundings and the opportunity to meet new people and do different things. The trip normally consists of 40-45 parents/carers with excellent accommodation, food and lodging.

Home Based Respite:
This short-term support is provided to the clients either in a residential setting or in their own homes. The main focus is on companionship and conversation which helps to prevent social isolation and increases the well being of our clients. It also provides the opportunity for clients to gain support in undertaking household task such as cleaning, laundry and ironing and provides extended support to them to attend appointments and/or events such as religious activities, social clubs or/and visiting family and friends.

Saturday Women’s Respite:
Every Saturday Apasen provides group based respite care for local Women aged between 18-40 years, who have a physical/ learning disability.

This respite service helps users be in a different environment from their home. They get to meet and socialise with others in the same situation as them. It also provides respite for carers so that they get a break from caring for our clients and have time for themselves.

Our aim is to help women to be more independent and build up their self- esteem.  We draw up a plan according to individual women’s needs. Then our staff team at the work closely with them to meet their targets.
